It’s not very surprising to make mistakes as a new blogger, but let me tell you, I absolutely FAILED blogging as a beginner. But first, let me give you some of my blogging backstory.
I started blogging two years ago, in the golden days of WordPress, when they had all the Daily Prompts, Community Pools, and First Fridays running like a charm. So it was very easy to find similar bloggers and writing communities. I loved reading through the 700-1500 comments at the Pool, and I found many bloggers over there.
( 1 ) My first-ever morning of blogging, I didn’t even know how to share my blog link in the comments! And I was almost spamming the comments.
( 2 ) I posted almost ten times a day for two days! (I laugh at this a lot now) I felt so happy I wrote all day, and I had almost a childlike wonder and creativity towards writing for an audience.
( 3 ) I got into arguments with others about my grammar. They would say “Your punctuation is off” and I would stubbornly reply with “No your punctuation is off, not mine!” And it got to a point where I sent them an email with: “I don’t really need writing corrections, please stop messaging me.” as the first and only line.
( 4 ) I actually plagiarized off of another’s writing! It was on another long since deleted blog of mine, but I think about it every so often. You can read my post about it here.
( 5 ) This is my BIGGEST FAIL EVER. I made 30+ different blogs before deciding on just one blog/blog name. I can’t tell you how indecisive I was about every little thing.
